Since October 2023, all providers of supported accommodation for this age group must be registered with Ofsted.<\/p>\n<h2>Who needs to register?<\/h2>\n<p>Any organisation or individual providing accommodation and support to looked-after children or care leavers aged 16-17 must register with Ofsted. This includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Semi-independent living providers<\/li>\n<li>Supported lodgings providers<\/li>\n<li>Staying put arrangements<\/li>\n<li>Shared houses and flats<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step 1: Understand the quality standards<\/h2>\n<p>Before applying, providers must be familiar with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/providing-supported-accommodation-for-children-and-young-people\">Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023<\/a> and the Quality Standards. These cover the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The quality and purpose of care standard<\/li>\n<li>The children&#8217;s views, wishes and feelings standard<\/li>\n<li>The education standard<\/li>\n<li>The enjoyment and achievement standard<\/li>\n<li>The health and well-being standard<\/li>\n<li>The positive relationships standard<\/li>\n<li>The protection of children standard<\/li>\n<li>The leadership and management standard<\/li>\n<li>The care planning standard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step 2: Appoint a Registered Service Manager<\/h2>\n<p>Every supported accommodation service must have a Registered Service Manager (RSM) who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the service. The RSM must have at least 2 years of experience working in a relevant setting and ideally hold a Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 3: Prepare your documents<\/h2>\n<p>As part of the application, providers must submit a range of documents, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Statement of Purpose<\/li>\n<li>Location Risk Assessment<\/li>\n<li>Young Person&#8217;s Guide<\/li>\n<li>Safeguarding Policy<\/li>\n<li>Complaints Policy<\/li>\n<li>Missing Child Policy<\/li>\n<li>Behaviour Management Policy<\/li>\n<li>Emergency Contingency Plan<\/li>\n<li>Equalities Policy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ClouDoc provides all of these documents as part of our Supported Accommodation for Young People package.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 4: Complete the Ofsted application forms<\/h2>\n<p>The application involves completing two forms: SC1 (Apply to register a children&#8217;s social care service) and SC2 (Connect to a children&#8217;s social care service). Both forms are available on the Ofsted website.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 5: Prepare for the Ofsted visit<\/h2>\n<p>Once your application has been submitted and checked, Ofsted will arrange a site visit. During the visit, inspectors will assess your premises and interview key staff, including the Registered Provider and the Registered Service Manager.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 6: Prepare for inspection<\/h2>\n<p>Once registered, your service will be inspected using Ofsted&#8217;s Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF) for Supported Accommodation.
